TSM Videos - A Beginner's Guide

The time has finally come! Sapu and the rest of the dedicated TSM team have released the newest version of TradeSkillMaster! I've been using a pre-release version for a while now and have had a lot of fun with it. The team's done a great job and I'm sure you all will enjoy the changes.

At the bottom of this post is a series of videos which should help newcomers to the addon find their way around and perhaps teach veterans a few things. They are not designed as an advanced manual of tactics; my goal in creating these videos was to help people who have just installed TSM to learn the basics. I'm still learning certain aspects of the addon mysef (Sapu even gave me some tips on my own use of it after I showed him the videos!) but this should be a sufficient primer for those who have found it intimidating in the past.

There is currently no video for Warehousing.  While I have used the tool for a limited time I am still fairly clumsy with it myself as I attempt to learn how exactly it works with my setup.  Once I am more  well-versed with Warehousing I will make a video but it is not required to use the core of TSM so for now it is absent from my video guides.

So what's new?
A lot! In its new form TSM has shed the side-bar style and has integrated into the main AH panel with its own TSM tab from which you use the TSM plugins like shopping for crafting mats and posting auctions. There are new reset scants, shopping lists, and an easy to understand UI.

I hope you all enjoy these videos; I admit my editing isn't top notch but they should serve their purpose well! PLEASE watch these in HD so that you can see the settings and whatnot.

-This should be the first video you watch if you are new to TSM-

If you have any questions for me feel free to leave them as a comment here or on the videos. If you have questions or concerns about TradeSkillMaster be sure to visit the development forum over at The Consortium forums!

  1. I am very happ to see this post.

But there is a difference between having four glyphs in your bag, and four glyphs in on the auction house.

I want to set TSM up so that if I have 4 glyphs already up on the auction house, TSM craft queue knows that , and won't prompt to make more of that glyph.

I have gathering installed, and I have all my toons gbanks, all in , but it still is prompting me to craft more glyphs of the same type I already have up.

I think TSM makes decisions on what glyph is profitable to que, and there is a min restock and max restock setting.
Does the that restock setting take into account what is already on the auction house. Or does it just look in bags, gbanks, other toons?
    Thank you so much.

  3. Good videos, but TSM still looks horrifyingly complicated to set up. I tried a few versions ago and it took forever to set up simple tasks, and even then kept resetting to defaults and making me livid. I'll give it a shot but am not getting my hopes up. The video should help give it a fair shake.

With the update there are 2 new "addons" you have to install. One of them is called Item Tracker, that is the one you are missing for it to count AH items and stuff that is on your character/alts.

  5. lol exactly what gardibolt said :)

I also find tsm terribly complicated. I did dl it a while back, though I wound up convincing a competitor of mine to fix my old defunct z/a for me as I was a bit too inept to deal with tsm. I sorta use parts of it sometimes now, though the thought of updating it horrifies me.

  6. Faid, your videos rock!

So... Is there a setting somewhere that changes how the crafting queue looks at mats? For example, in your video when you are purchasing inks for inscription it shows Ink of the Sea (needed/in bags/total) and allows you to simply hit the TSM shopping button on the vendor to buy them. When I attempt that, it just says I need eleventy azure pigments and I end up manually buying ink of the sea.

Though for some reason it does seem to work half the time. Like last night, when re-upping glyphs it listed lion and ethereal ink instead of golden and nether pigment, but still showed azure pigment instead of ink of the sea...

I've scoured the config/settings to try to find something to change, but I am coming up with nothing. Any ideas on what I am missing here?

    Thanks!

  7. Grettir: I'm afraid I don't really understand what's happening in your problem. Could you give me a step by step of the problem and what happens?

    In other words:

Step 1: I queue the crafts.
Step 2: In Shopping I have a shopping list which lists the items _______.
    Step 3: It's making me buy ______.

Basically I think I'm just getting mixed up on what's happening vs. what you want to be happening. :)

I'mg oing to put a contact e-mail up on the top right of my site so you can shoot me an e-mail since it's usually better than direct conversations in comments.

  9. Thanks for the videos, they really help out! I'm new to TSM and have set up my whitelist. However, I keep on undercutting them. This occurs even with the bid and buyout amounts the same. A friend told me to capitalize the first letter of their name, did that too and still am undercutting. Any suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong?
